JIOSTL (Japanese Institute of St. Louis) is a 501(c)(3) certified non-profit organization established in St. Louis in 2024.
We work to promote friendly relations and deepen cultural exchange between Japan and the United States (St. Louis area). We value expanding our connections with the local community while having fun experiencing Japanese traditions and charms.
Our non-profit organization is composed of a board of directors and an executive committee, and all operations are supported by volunteers. Welcome to a fun and warm place of exchange that serves as a bridge between Japan and the United States!

Our Activities
We engage in a variety of cultural activities, including: Table-style tea ceremony, kimono dressing, art, craft, wagashi (Japanese sweets), and Japanese cuisine classes
Fun and supportive Japanese language learning; Ajikan, Gachirinkan, and mindfulness meditation; Business, study abroad, and travel itinerary planning consultations End-of-life support, grief care, and workshops on the philosophy of life and death
Our activities are open to everyone, regardless of age or nationality!
If you love Japan, Japanese food and culture or want to challenge yourself with something new, feel free to join us.
Since our organization is still new, we are learning and growing together.
We are looking for companions to help pass on Japanese culture to future generations.
We welcome volunteers to teach us arts, crafts, and cooking—not only Japanese cuisine, but American and international dishes as well!
